Our Ultimate Teacher (John 14:26)

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 14:26 (KJV)

Our ultimate teacher is the Holy Spirit who lives within us. The Holy Spirit continually seeks to remind us of the things of God, He helps us to move from intellectually knowing a thing to having a direct revelation about it. And so when considering the Word, let us do so knowing that the very same Spirit that inspired the Word now lives within us. Then let us quiet our hearts, and listen for what He is speaking to us. We will find that in any situation wisdom, guidance, insight and revelation are readily available as we open our hearts to receive.

Cultivating A Heart Of Humility (Proverbs 11:2)

When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Proverbs 11:2 (KJV)

Pride will often lead to hasty actions and quick decisions. Pride tends to distort our motivations and it clouds our judgement; it keeps us from acting out of true wisdom. God delights in our humility, for it is the humble heart that is most open and receptive to wisdom. When we look to God for wisdom, when we remain open and teachable, knowing that God can speak to us in a variety of ways, we can be certain that we will never be put to shame. Cultivating a heart of humility is crucial for us to live out the life of purpose that God has prepared for us.

Trusting God No Matter What (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)

May we commit to trusting in the Lord with all our heart regardless of the season we find ourselves in. When we trust Him no matter what—whether things are going well or whether we find ourselves in a difficult season—we will find that He will faithfully lead us every step along the way. Let us be certain that the deeper we go in our trusting God, the greater will be the outpouring of His goodness and blessing upon our lives.

Listening For What God Is Speaking (1 Samuel 3:9-10)

So he said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again, and if someone calls again, say, ‘Speak, LORD, your servant is listening.'” So Samuel went back to bed. And the LORD came and called as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel replied, “Speak, your servant is listening.”

1 Samuel 3:9-10 (NLT)

Just as in the case of Samuel, each one of us is being called by God. In fact, our heavenly Father is continuously looking to converse with us. If we need wisdom with regards to an important decision, God wants to give us wisdom; if we are in need of peace, He wants to speak peace to our hearts; if we need direction, we can safely look to Him. And so may we remain open and receptive each day to what God might be speaking to us, whether it be through His Word, through the intuitive guidance of the Holy Spirit, or even through people He has put in our path. Let us be sure that God wants to be fully involved in every area of our lives; and the more we make it our habit to listen, the more will we develop our ability to hear.

God Will Finish What He Started (Phillipians 1:6)

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Philippians 1:6 (KJV)

We may be confident that whatever God has started in our lives, He will bring to completion. Our task is to put our faith and trust in Jesus, and to realize that even when it seems as if nothing is happening, when things take longer than expected, God is working in us to peform His good work. And so today, be confident in the promises God has put in your heart; trust that He is leading you into all He has called you to be.

This Is The Way, Walk In It (Isaiah 30:21)

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

Isaiah 30:21 (NKJV)

There is a continual guidance available to us in every moment of every day. As we make it our habit to stop and listen for the still small voice, we will find that the Holy Spirit will surely reveal to us which way to go. What a blessing that when faced with decisions large or small, we need not go about trying to figure things out on our own. The Lord is always ready to guide us, instruct us, teach us and comfort us; and we may rest assured that He will lead us into all that He has ordained for us.

Come Unto Me And Rest (Matthew 11:28)

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 (KJV)

Jesus is telling us that we do not need to bear the burdens and responsibilities of day to day life by ourselves. He is inviting us to come unto Him, and to bring Him into every area of our lives. As we accept this invitation, we find a rest that fills our soul; there is a calm that enters into our heart, regardless of whether we find ourselves in the valley or on the mountaintop. We know that wisdom is available to us every step along the way, that all things are working together for our good, and that the Lord is faithfully leading us into all that He has called us to be.
