Graceway Statement Of Faith

We believe and confidently affirm:

The inerrancy of the Bible: That the Bible is the inerrant, authoritative and inspired Word of God, was authored by God through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and given to humanity as the authentic and perfect revelation of a just, holy and loving God. Therefore we consider the Bible to be the final authority when it comes to any teaching or doctrine.

The Trinity: That God is one in substance, yet He eternally exists as three distinct Persons. The three Persons of the Godhead are:

  • The Father: He is Alpha and Omega; He is our Creator, our eternal Father, and He created each of us in His image and likeness, purposed to seek Him, to know Him, and to live in eternal fellowship with Him.
  • The Son: Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God and has eternally coexisted with the Father. Jesus is also God in human form; He is fully human while remaining fully God. During His time on earth Jesus lived the perfect life. On the cross He died for the sins of all of humanity—past, present and future—and through His resurrection and ascension into heaven has made a way for us to have eternal life in Him and through Him. We believe and affirm that Jesus is the only way to eternal life and salvation.
  • The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Lord that indwells all born again believers. The moment we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit joins with our spirit, and thereby spiritually regenerates us; this means that we go from being spiritually dead to being spiritually alive. From this point forward the Holy Spirit becomes our Comforter and our Teacher. He assures us of Christ’s presence in our lives; He guides us into all truth and exalts the Lord Jesus Christ; He enables us to understand and properly interpret Scripture; He convicts us of sin and man’s need for redemption; He also reveals to us God’s righteousness, the coming judgement, and the second coming of our Lord. It is through the Holy Spirit in us that God gives life unto our spirit, thereby raising us from natural life which is corruptible, into spiritual life which is eternal.

The Fall of Mankind/Our Need of Salvation: Mankind was originally created in the image and likeness of God. We were created to be in eternal fellowship with God, and when God saw what He had made He called it very good. However, God did not want automatons, and so He created us with the gift of free will; this means we must each consciously choose to desire fellowship with Him. Humanity as a whole has chosen to go against God and to follow our own selfish ways rather than to live for Him. It is this splitting ourselves off from God that is the very foundation of sin, and through sin all of this world has become corrupted, subject to decay, lack, limitation, illness and death. Since all of us were born into this fallen world, we all carry the stain of original sin. It is for this reason that each of us is in need of salvation, meaning that each of us must be reconciled back to God by choosing in our hearts to give our lives to Him, and accepting the finished work of Christ on the cross.

The New Covenant/God’s Grace: The moment we surrender ownership of our lives to the Lord Jesus Christ, we are in that very moment redeemed and restored in the eyes of God. We are made spiritually alive, and through God’s infinite mercy and grace we now become the recipients of the boundless goodness and blessings of God. This means that as a new creation in Christ, we are already blessed with every spiritual blessing. However, in order for us to bridge the gap between what is true of us spiritually and our everyday experience, it is necessary that we consciously know the truth that makes us free. And this means that we must let the Word of God take root in our hearts; we declare the Word of God and affirm the Word of God over our lives, and we open ourselves, through faith, for the truth that the grace of God is sufficient for us to become the manifest and objective reality of our lives.

Divine Healing/Miracles: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. What He did in the four Gospels, He still does today; and what He did in the book of Acts through the apostles and early Church, He is seeking to do today through every modern-day disciple who will but believe. Sickness, lack, poverty, addictions, and things of similar nature, are the result of sin, and are therefore not God’s will for us. Healing, deliverance, soundness, prosperity, and freedom from all bonds of darkness are included within Salvation, and so every Christian has a right to believe God for healing in whatever areas of our lives we are in need of it!

The Second Coming Of Christ: We believe in and affirm the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. No one knows the time or the hour, yet this will be an actual physical event that will be visible to all, and that will lead into the final judgement and ultimately the new heaven and the new earth.

The Church: The Church was founded by our Lord Jesus Christ who is therefore the Head of the Church. We do not believe that the Church should be or was ever intended to be considered a manmade organization, but that she is in fact the very activity of the Body of Christ on the earth. The Church consists of every born again believer, and we believe that the only way for the Church to function as intended by Jesus is for her to be in complete submission to the leading, the guidance and the direction of the Holy Spirit. The Church’s function is to continue the work of Christ on the earth all the way up unto the Second Coming.

The individual ministry of every born again believer: We believe that every believer has a ministry. For some this might mean to be called into the fulltime ministry, yet for the majority of members of the body of Christ the believers’ ministry is their life. We strongly emphasize the need for evangelism, and we believe that all of us are called to bring the love, the grace and the truth of Christ into all of the many spheres of life. All of us called by God to a unique purpose and destiny, which includes the giving of our individual gifts and talents in service of the kingdom of God.
